The View, Lytton, BC, 2015
The summer of 2015 was a hot one and Lytton, BC, situated at the confluence of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers, is often the hottest place in the province. We’d left Vancouver in the afternoon on what became known as our “Smoky Holiday” tour of the Interior — titled after the rampant wildfires that followed us throughout the trip.
The photo above was made after checking into a sweltering, newly painted and smelly motel room in Lytton. We were starving after the long drive. The motel owner directed us to a Chinese restaurant back up on the highway, but we’d need to hurry before it closed.
The view and The View demanded a stop along the way, so this is a handheld grab shot that, in retrospect, would have benefitted from a tripod and judicious use of HDR. Still, I think it merits inclusion in the Miscellaneous Monday showcase. It is indeed a fine view.
