In addition to the Eighties Vancouver photographs made with a medium format film camera (6×6 cm image size), I also produced a body of work using a 35mm Nikon FM (24 mm × 36 mm image size). These photos were a sort of “practice” for the more formal views of the medium format work. Besides the different aspect ratio of the images (1×1 vs. 3:2), the relatively lightweight Nikon enabled a more agile, some might say careless, approach to street photography.
