Said The Whale rocking the roller coaster photo to promote Vancouver Music

With @thejunoawards coming to town next weekend and the eyes of the Canadian Music Industry focused on our city, we thought it would be good timing to share a playlist of our favourite Vancouver bands. Please listen and share – link is in our profile. If any of these songs catch your ears, please support the bands by buying their music, following them on social media, or attending an upcoming live show! There is a TON of talent in this city. I should also mention that this list is by no means exhaustive – I’m sure we’ve missed some great bands on account of being 30+/uncool/homebodies so if there’s something you’d like to see on this playlist, please comment below. • • Instagram only lets you tag 20 accounts in a pic, so here’s the whole list in case you wanna hit up some of these bands: @hblaisauce / @jopassedup / @deadsofties / @peachpit17 / @frankiietheband / @supermoontheband / @titusbank / @fakeshark / @douseband / @theshilohs / @b__l__u__e__j / @louiseburnsmusic / @summerwitch / @lucafogale / @devours.xyu / @creatureovmyth / @malcolmjack1968 / @littledestroyermusic / @wearethecity / @thebellegame / @rococode / @thetouristcompany / @jayarner / @thecutlosses / @derrival / @gangxsigns / @aidanknight / @danmanganmusic / @dearrouge / @thezolas / @heyoceanband / @yukonblonde / @mothermothermusic • • • Another thing: if you are running the social media account for a large media company or music/lifestyle-related business in Vancouver, please share this playlist!! It think it would be very helpful to all the bands here. There’s a really cool story behind this photo which we will share later this week.

This is Vancouver music, so said the whale

I’m pleased to have been approached by Vancouver band Said The Whale to licence usage of my photo Wooden Roller Coaster, Vancouver, 1986 as the “cover photo” for a Spotify collection featuring contemporary bands from the city’s vibrant music scene.

As they say, with the Junos in town, it’s a perfect time to showcase emerging talent.

As a onetime entertainer at Vancouver nightclubs, I’m more than happy to have my photographic work associated with such a project.

Check out the Spotify playlist and the musicians behind the project.

The roller coaster photo is available as a limited-edition print in 3 sizes, a 7×7 inch open edition or lithographed poster.
