Comparing Nisi and Nikon Circular Polarizers
#nikonz6 #polarizingfilter
In this video, I try out both the Nisi Landscape circular polarizer and the Nikon equivalent. I've ordered a second Nisi filter holder, primarily so that I can use neutral density filters on both of my Nikon Z6 cameras simultaneously when recording video. However, I don't want to buy a second Nisi polarizer. I own a Nikon polarizing filter, so thought it might be interesting to compare.

How to Turn Your Photos into Posters
Making posters from your photographs is a great way to promote your work. Depending on the reproduction method chosen, it can be an economical method of producing large numbers of promotional products for distribution or sale.
In this video, we'll look at those options -- inkjet, digital and offset -- and briefly discuss design and preparation of artwork for printing.

DIY Acoustic Panels: Building and Testing
Here, I build DIY acoustic panels and perform a before-and-after sound test. After watching a few YouTube tutorials on the subject, I was confident I could make my own acoustic absorption panels.
The resulting units featured in this video (cost around CA$325 in materials for 6) are a hybrid of a couple of how-tos elsewhere on the platform. Besides the ceiling-mounted panels, I decided to set the rest up as gobos, so they can be moved where needed, rather than hung on walls. I built easels with a few pieces of scrap wood.
My favourite video, and the one I took most ideas from, is linked below. It's well worth watching. Included in my video is a rather "speedy" illustration of the whole assembly process including the "quasi-scientific" testing protocol and dance routine.

Video Shootout: Nikon Z6 Versus Fujifilm X-Pro2
The Nikon Z6 made its debut in the mirrorless camera market in November 2018. I bought mine in April, 2019, which is when I made the 4K clips that comprise the main part of this video.
My introduction to mirrorless cameras came with the Fujifilm X-Pro2, also in the spring ... of 2016. Fuji added 4K video to the X-Pro2 with a firmware update in 2017 (I tested that here shortly after). Fuji just released the X-Pro3.
A house move and all that entails got in the way of finishing the video but I hope you’ll find something worthwhile in the results of my early experimentation with Nikon’s latest addition to the world of mirrorless cameras.
Stick around until the end for a look at another feature of the Z6.
Audio notes: audio from location and "blue shirt" clips, was recorded with Røde Stereo Video Mic Pro -- location straight into the Z6, "blue shirt into Tascam D60D MK II and edited in Audacity, but the intro and outro audio is straight from the Røde NTG2/Tascam D60D MK II.

Dual Monitor Setup for Final Cut Pro X on a Budget
In this video I describe how I set up for dual screen editing in Final Cut Pro X, using an old Acer monitor I had kicking around.
Searching ebay, I see the same display — a 17" AL1706 — can be had for around $50. That's not a bad cost to enjoy the extra space on your editing interface.

GoPro HERO8 Black: Unboxing, Cinematic Set-up & Test
#GoPro #GoPro8
In this video I unbox, set up the GoPro Hero8 preset for cinematic video and test it out on location.
I wanted a light and compact video camera to accompany my Nikon Z6 cameras, especially to add b-roll and shoot clips in tight places. But I also require those clips to match as close as possible the footage from my full-frame cameras. Does the GoPro Hero8 Black fit the bill? Let’s see.
