Pile Up
The good news
I received word late Monday that the computer freeze mentioned in my last post was caused by a minor glitch in the logic board (motherboard in PC language). A reset of the component that had failed to follow Spock’s Rule thawed out my 8-year-old, “specced-out” iMac.
How likely is this problem to occur again? “About as likely as it did this time,” the technician told me. “With those specs, it’s likely to last you a lot longer.”
So I don’t have to buy a recently-released $65,000CA specced-out Mac Pro. Dodged that bullet.
The bad news
If you compare today’s weather snapshot with Monday’s, you’ll see my problem. The forecast is for warmer temperatures … that will likely worsen the situation on the roads, at least in the short term. The snow and high winds that caused the present drifts around the house will give way to that slippery soup so famous for causing pileups on the coast.
So I’m staying by the fire rather than tackling the long, tortuous drive into the city to retrieve my Mac. Again, if you’re about to order any of my photo products during this time, please allow an extra day or two for delivery (I pledge to ship within 5 days after ordering, but rarely go over 3).
Remember, I offer free shipping on all orders within Canada.
