Photo of the day

Waking at 5 am (to the sound of rain), I figured today was Film Day. When I announced this photo challenge I’d made a pledge of sorts to include a shoot with one of my film cameras.
As if to hold myself to the promise, early in the month I loaded a roll of Fuji Superia film in my surviving 35mm Nikon F90X, purchased in the last year they were produced, in 2001. Rated at 400 ISO, the relatively fast film was appropriate for today’s overcast, drizzly weather.
To be close to a C-41 lab, I shot the 24-exposure roll in Cook Street Village, finishing up at nearby Beacon Hill Park, location for Day 13’s photo of the day. The experience — no “chimping” to check exposure, etc. (though I kept looking at the back of the camera) and the restriction of just 2-dozen exposures made for a similar challenge to yesterday.
On November 11, at the Remembrance Day Ceremony, I’d met a chap who, it turned out, worked in London Drugs’ photo department. I told him of my plan. I was happy to meet him again today when I picked up the developed film.
After coffee time, it was back to the studio to scan the film, using negative holders rather than the wet scanning process … not to mention splice together video clips made hurriedly along the way into a passable little film.
